FAQ

At Demexum French Chocolates, we are committed to ensuring that every gift arrives in perfect condition. We take great care in packaging your chocolates, using insulated mini-coolers and ice packs to protect against heat, especially during warm weather and in southern states. With our meticulous packaging and a 100% unconditional guarantee, you can trust that your delivery will meet your expectations.

Real Chocolate: Contains cocoa solids and cocoa butter as primary ingredients along with other ingredients like sugar or milk solids (for milk chocolate). It requires tempering, a controlled process of heating and cooling, to ensure a shiny finish and a good snap.

Compound Chocolate: Uses fats other than cocoa butter, often vegetable fats. It does not require tempering like real chocolate does, making it easier to work with for certain applications like coating or dipping. It’s typically less expensive than real chocolate, but many argue it lacks the depth of flavor and mouthfeel of genuine chocolate.

We accept the following credit cards: MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, Elo, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal. Payment is automatically captured once the checkout process is complete. If you choose PayPal, you will be prompted to log in and process your payment. You’ll then be directed back to our website once your transaction is complete.

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund, and if shipping charges apply or not.

If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment. It may take up to 10 days to post to your account.

If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again.
Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.

Next, contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted. If you’ve done all of this and you still have not received your refund, please contact us at customerservice@demexumfrenchchocolate.com

We presently ship within the USA only.

All orders have a processing time of 1-3 days plus the shipping time. The shipping carrier never counts the day you place your order on so the following day is always day 1. (after processing time)

Shipping costs depend on the item and which part of the country it’s being shipped to. We offer USPS to most destinations, but not always because of the shipping duration, especially around the holidays. During the warmer weather months, you may notice an increase in shipping, whether it’s UPS or USPS. This is due to insulating the box causing a larger box and increasing its weight from the ice packs. We do this to ensure you receive your chocolate in pristine condition.

In your shipping confirmation email, you will receive a tracking number which you can use to check the progress of your order.

A soy-free chocolate refers to a type of chocolate that does not contain soy or any soy-derived ingredients, such as soy lecithin, a common emulsifier used in many chocolate products. Soy lecithin is often used to help blend the cocoa, sugar, and other ingredients together, making the chocolate smoother and more consistent.

However, some chocolate makers intentionally choose not to use soy or soy-derived ingredients in their products for various reasons:

  1. Health and Allergies:
  • Soy allergies are quite common, and some consumers might need to avoid it for health reasons. By labeling chocolate as “soy-free,” makers make their products accessible to a broader range of people.
  • Hormonal concerns: Soy contains phytoestrogens, plant-based compounds that can mimic estrogen in the body. Some people may wish to avoid soy due to concerns about hormone balance or its effects on health, especially for those with specific medical conditions.
  1. Clean Ingredients & Purity:
  • Some chocolate makers emphasize using fewer, more natural ingredients. They might choose to avoid soy lecithin because it is processed and might not align with a “pure” or “whole food” philosophy.
  • Minimal processing: By not using soy, these makers are appealing to consumers who prefer their food to be less processed and more natural.
  1. Sustainability and Ethical Concerns:
  • Soy is a major crop that has been linked to deforestation and environmental degradation, particularly in places like the Amazon rainforest. Chocolate makers who are concerned about sustainability might avoid soy to align with more eco-friendly practices.
